Garlic and Blood Pressure.
Blood pressure is measured by two numbers: the first and higher number is the systolic, measuring the pressure inside the arteries the instant the heart beats; the second and lower number is the diastolic, measuring the pressure in the arteries when the heart is at rest.
Blood pressure that is considered “normal” is 120/80 or lower. If the higher (systolic) number is 140 or higher and/or the lower (diastolic) number is 90 or higher, you have high blood pressure (also referred to as “hypertension”).
Garlic can help stabilize high blood pressure. But first, we would be very remiss if we didn't list the basic lifestyle adjustments important for lowering one's blood pressure:
* If you're overweight, diet sensibly.
* Cut down or cut out meat and other fatty foods.
* If you smoke, stop!
* If you drink alcohol and coffee, stop or keep it to a minimum.
* Reduce the stress in your life, meditate, try biofeedback, do yoga find something simple and pleasant that's going to lower your stress level.
* Exercise daily.
* Eliminate salt from your diet use garlic and kelp as salt substitutes, either by sprinkling the powders on food or adding minced garlic and crumbled kelp to salads and other dishes for which they're appropriate and flavorful.
In 1948 Dr. F. G. Piotrowski of the University of Geneva announced his dramatic findings that garlic has a profound effect on bringing down high blood pressure.
The doctor discovered that garlic's sulfur compounds calm the nerves, strengthen the heart, and gently dilate congested and restricted blood vessels.
Take garlic daily raw and cooked garlic is good, so are garlic supplements.
